SERVICES

I work across the full range of psychological issues with individual adults, adolescents, and couples.

The objective of my work is to provide a therapeutic relationship characterized by trust, acceptance, and compassion. I aim to facilitate growth in self-knowledge and autonomy, thereby enabling clients to unlock their inner resources to find the best solutions to their concerns and issues. I work to enhance each client’s capacities for self-examination and introspection to help in mastering emotional pain and complex dilemmas that were once overwhelming.

In my work, I strive to balance listening intently with active engagement via questions, observations, and the occasional challenge. In my view, a therapeutic relationship should provide an emotional experience that frees hidden resources as well as opportunities for understanding recurring patterns of coping that are ineffective or self-defeating. The therapeutic relationship provides a useful analog for an individual's characteristic ways of interacting with others. It can, therefore, be mined to clarify one’s own contribution to frustrating patterns of behavior and to transform those patterns over time.

Some of my specific clinical Interests include: Individual psychotherapy with adolescents and adults; Couple's therapy, including child-guidance, parenting issues, communication, infidelity and divorce; Grief/Loss; Trauma/PTSD; Suicidality/Self-harm; Anxiety; Depression and mood disorders; Personality disorders; Failure-to-Launch; Midlife and aging concerns; Workplace stress; Women's issues.
